PowerShift dual-clutch (2011-2016 Focus, Fiesta)
The DPS6 shudders, slips and hesitates from a stop in a way software reflashing never reliably cured. Ford issued years of updates, clutch replacements, a warranty extension and a class-action settlement — all evidence the defect was known and persistent.
EcoBoost coolant intrusion (1.5L, some 1.6L)
Coolant works into the cylinders, showing as a sweet smell, white exhaust, misfires and overheating. Left alone it cracks the block or fails the head gasket. It looks like a random misfire first, so it often takes several visits to name — each one a repair attempt.
10R80 ten-speed (F-150, Mustang, Explorer)
